Aaron served four enlistments during the Revolutionary War. In 1778 he joined at the age of 18 in Granville County under Captain Gilliam and Colonel Wm. Moore. In 1781 he enlisted again under Captain John Henderson and Colonel Malberly, furnishing his own gun and horse . When his tour of duty ended before the end of 1781 he enlisted again under Captain Blackwell at Harrisburg, Granville County, NC. He enlisted a Fourth time and served until the end of the Revolutionary War. Aaron saw action at Bells Mill on the Deep River, Island Ford on the Yadkin, Battle of Guilford Court House, Ramseys Mill Deep River, Cross Creek and Black River. During the war Aaron knew Capt. Harrison, Col. Pascely, Col. Washington, Col. Lee, General Wayne, General Rutherford, Capt. Ward, Capt. Blackwell, Col. Maybin, and General Greene . As told by Aaron, he was traveling with 8 or 9 of his comrades under the command of Captain Ward. They were taking supplies to General Greene's camp when they asked direction of an old man, whom they met along the road. The old man was apparently a British sympathizer, for he tried to steer them into Lord Cornwallis' camp. Before reaching that camp they were warned of their dilemma by a woman who was traveling the same road. Later in General Green's camp they recognized the old man trying to pass through the camp. The old man was seized and hanged from a nearby tree as a traitor. Aaron and Nancy are the parents of Zachariah Stacy.
