William and Sarah Stacy lived on Mountain Creek, a tributary of the Catawba River in Lincoln County, adjacent to other members of the Stacy family. They moved to Rutherford County, TN by October of the year 1827, and settled first on Brawley's Fork of Stone's River. Brawley'sFork has its source in the south eastern part of Cannon County, near where the lines of Cannon, Rutherford, and Coffee Counties join and passes northward to Stones' River. Therefore, when the new County of Cannon was formed in the year 1836, William Stacy was situated across the boundary line in Rutherford County, near the source of Brawley's Fork.
On 2nd of Feb, 1839, William Stacy was elected Constable of the 12th District of the new County of Cannon and resigned in September of 1839, and two years later, 1840, took up landfurther down Brawley's Fork, about 1 1/2 miles from the present Village of Bradyville. William Stacy is listed as a Miller in the 1850 Cannon County Census. References show William Stacy owned land located at both Brawley's Fork and Carson's Fork, a tributary of Brawley's Fork, in Cannon County. The 1870 census shows William Stacey living at Brawley Fork in Cannon County, Tn
